MEET DR. DEBI

My name is Dr. Debi Gilmore, and I’m so glad you’re here! I find tremendous joy in my career as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, public speaker, professional educator, and author. I am co-owner of the EFT Clinic located in Northern Utah, a large mental health clinic with a special focus on couples therapy. I am also co-owner of the EFT Counseling and Education Center with 3 locations in Utah including Salt Lake City, Lehi, and the newest location in St. George.

After 25 years of full-time motherhood, I felt inspired to return to school and pursue a career in strengthening relationships and promoting emotional well-being. After nearly a decade of study, completion of my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and thousands of hours working with couples, individuals and families, I achieved my doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2018. Since graduation, I’ve expanded my professional realm considerably by working with student therapists-in-training and mentoring and training seasoned therapists seeking certification in EFT or AAMFT Supervisor status. I also provide professional trainings for clinical skill-building, and serve as a business consultant for those seeking to raise their level of expertise to ensure greater success.

My upcoming book, Conquering Your Inner Critic is based on my lecture series offered at BYU Education Week over the past several years. The series has been so enthusiastically received and the information so frequently requested that I decided to make my work more widely available in the form of a book. It’s based on my unique and innovative method for rejecting our inner critical voice, and strengthening, cultivating, and empowering our self-worth.

I encourage you to learn about my Building A Lasting Connection program and workshops for early relationships and committed couples, please visit www.BuildingALastingConnection.com. It is a relationship education program that involves our innovative Lasting Connection System® mats that guide the couple toward richer, deeper, more meaningful conversations.

I have served in multiple leadership positions, including as President of the Association of Latter-day Saint Counselors and Psychotherapists. One of the greatest experiences of my life was when I served as a board member and Chairman of the Advisory Board for Mentors International, a humanitarian organization providing micro-loans and mentoring for women in 14 developing countries.

I live in southern Utah with my husband, Kirk, and our two adorable dogs Ka’anapali and Maui, whose names are inspired by my love of the Hawaiian islands and culture. I have three married children, nine grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. Life is good, and I always keep my mind and heart open to new possibilities!
